Friday, 6th of July

On Friday I spent the afternoon exploring Bahnhofstrasse. You can take the girl out of a fashion marketing program, but you can’t take the love of fashion out of the girl! The fashion odyssey began on Thursday. I went to Saint Laurent and Chanel with Jenna. We were waiting to be helped in CHANEL when one of the guys from Migos came in asking for an item. I thought it was a joke but it turned out that Migos was playing the Open Air Festival on Friday. I found the earrings that I had been dreaming about for years and put them on hold. I picked them up Friday and then went to Jelmoli Department Store and walked around a bit. I then went to Manor and explored the makeup and skincare counters. I then met Mr. Bones at Kiehl’s and had to get a picture with him. On Saturday, I went back to Bahnhofstrasse to walk around more and people watch. I saw a demonstration for fair treatment for animals, people, and health. I also had people coming up to me and asking if I wanted religious pamphlets. I politely declined. I noticed a large group of women having a bachelorette weekend that included shopping. I’m definitely down for that❤️ I asked one of the ladies if I could take their picture. The bride then asked me my name and asked me to be in the picture next to her. It was cool to see an American custom being done in Switzerland.

The working poor are not only a problem in the United States but also in Zürich. The city of Zürich has an international persona of wealth and luxury. From a bustling financial sector to high end shopping, it’s easy to forget about people struggling to get by. I really respect the fact that Switzerland feels that social inclusion is important for all of its citizens. The US is quick to marginalize the working poor. No matter your financial situation we are all human and deserve to be treated with respect. I applaud Switzerland for their social welfare system that allows individuals to keep their dignity.
