Stormy weather, a lot of interesting School topics and the defeat of the swiss national team in the soccer world cup. Tuesday was a packed day.

Tuesday, 3rd of July
Today, Tuesday July 3, 2018, we met at ZHAW at 9am for our first set of presentations. On our way to the school, we had to trek through the pouring rain leaving most of us wet for class. Once everyone made it to class we started our first set of presentations. These presentations were presented by Swiss student, Tabea, and American student, Samantha (Mckenzie). Their presentations provided insite on the political systems in the Swiss and the United States. Once both students were finished presenting they led an indepth discussion and debate with everyone about changing the US constitution with the times as well as what they would they initiate to become an amendment if they were a swiss citizen and what they would ratify if they could as an American. Finally, we discussed whether education and health care should be controlled by the state or national government? This question led to a great discussion between the students and staff about how these topics (healthcare and education) differ between our countries. After, the discussion dwindled down, the students and professors went and ate a catered lunch, that was provided by the school, with the school’s social work department staff. After lunch concluded, the students and professors went back to the class room to learn about the welfare systems in the US and in Switzerland. These presentations were presented by American student, Laura, and Swiss students, Alessandro and Nadia. Sadly, we ran out of time to hold a discussion and debate after the presentation but they did send us home with things to think about. After class was over we had some spare time and most of the students and faculty went to watch the Swiss play Sweden in the World Cup and a local bar. Sadly, Switzerland lost and are now out of the competition. After the game everyone parted ways and went on with their nights separately or in small groups. Over all today was a good day.
